United Way's Mission Acceleration Program helps students get back on track

HATTIESBURG, MISS. (WDAM) - It’s no question, COVID-19 has led to students spending extended periods of time out of the classroom.

United Way of Southeast Mississippi has adopted a program called The Mission Acceleration Program to help students get back on track with their learning.

Kari Lynn Somers, who is the United Way Director of Community Impact, says this program has helped the students in the Hattiesburg community in a big way.

Community Gives Back to Local Veterans During Supply Drive

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – This Veterans Day, members of the community gave back to those who’ve served our country by donating basic household items to help local veterans in need.

Volunteer Southeast Mississippi, a program of United Way of Southeast Mississippi, held a Veterans Day Supply Drive Nov. 11, 2021 outside of Target in Hattiesburg to collect items for low income and homeless veterans.
