Lyon Joins UWSEMS as Community Impact Director

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – United Way of Southeast Mississippi (UWSEMS) is pleased to announce the addition of Amy Lyon as its new Director of Community Impact. 

In her role as Director of Community Impact, Lyon will be an integral part of helping United Way continue to achieve long-lasting, meaningful community change and impact throughout Forrest, Lamar, Marion and Perry counties. Additionally, she is responsible for overseeing the process of funds distribution, funded agency support, community research and community collaboration.

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – Several local companies in Hattiesburg and surrounding areas are joining United Way of Southeast Mississippi in kicking off its annual fundraising with its Pacesetter Campaign in a united effort to “give hope and change lives.”

New research: 73% of Mississippi’s Black Children Lived in Financial Hardship Pre-Pandemic

New report and interactive tools reveal that federal poverty data undercounts how many children of all races are growing up amid financial insecurity.
 
HATTIESBURG, MISS. – The majority of Mississippi’s Black and Hispanic children — 73% and 67% respectively — lived in households that couldn’t afford the basics in 2019, compared to 38% of white children, according to a new report from United Way of Southeast Mississippi and its research partner United For ALICE.

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – A Hattiesburg couple was shocked when they got the call informing them that they were the winners of $100,000. 

Ken and Alison Crumpton were out of town with their children when they received a call from United Way of Southeast Mississippi CEO Tracie Fowler telling them their ticket had just been selected during United Way’s $100K Payday Raffle event March 15 at Patio 44 in Hattiesburg.
