PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - Mississippi Power is helping customers make ends meet this summer through a sizeable donation.
The Mississippi Power Foundation donated $350,000 to United Ways across their service area to help with higher electric bills during the hottest months of the year.
Customers across 23 counties are eligible to apply for assistance.
This bill relief program is part of the Mississippi Power Foundation’s Project SHARE program.
The company says they hope this donation will curb customers’ costs while still keeping them cool this summer.
“This is the second time we’ve done this donation. We did it last year. And, again, as I go back to, we understand extreme weather this time of year. We saw the impact it had last year and wanted to do it again,” said Cedrick Hurd, Division Manager at Mississippi Power.
Pine Belt customers can contact United Way of Southeast Mississippi or Christian Services at (601) 582-5683 to apply.
