Who Are They?
R.A.P.P. (Relatives as Parents Program) Provides services to grandparents (and other relatives) raising grandchildren. Services include: support groups, information and referral, health insurance and benefits counseling, in-home services, respite, tutoring for grandchildren, school interventions, behavior management programs, educational forums, intergenerational physical fitness programs and a psycho-educational summer program for grandchildren ages 6-14. Special services are available to grandparents over 55 years old. Also offers free monthly activities for grandparent families. United Way funds make it possible for families to enjoy educational and recreational activities and build strong kinship families. Pinebelt Association for Families also offers the Faith in Action Helping Hands program and facilitates the McGruff Citizenship and Literacy Program .
What Does United Way's Funding Do?
United Way dollars funded the Relatives as Parents program, which offers health, nutrition, recreational and support programs for families in which grandparents or other relatives are raising grandchildren.
The Impact of Your United Way Investment
Through the nutritional, recreational and educational activities, grandparents become healthier and more informed, which enables them to be better caregivers. Grandchildren also become healthier - physically and emotionally - from the programs and support.
