Why United Way?

Why United Way?

Local
Health and human service agencies and programs in Forrest, Lamar and Perry counties benefit from United Way funds. Over 99% of the money raised each year stays in our community. Less than 1% is sent to United Way Worldwide for use of the United Way logo and national assistance.
Important
Funding is provided in four priority areas: education, financial stability, health and support services. United Way’s partners address pressing needs in our community, such as quality housing, at-risk youth and disaster relief services.
Easy
How else can you give to almost 20 charities with one simple gift?
Efficient
Over 80% of collected funds goes to community programs and services, while less than 20% is used for administrative expenses, such as materials and supplies.
Accountable
United Way of Southeast Mississippi is audited annually by an independent accounting firm.
Trustworthy
Founded in 1940, United Way of Southeast Mississippi has formed a reputation as an organization you can trust.
Worthwhile
Your participation will provide help, hope, opportunity and positive change in the lives of thousands in need within our community. Plus, you never know if someday you too might need the services of a United Way agency.

Giving to United Way…

Doesn’t take much time. Let us help! We’ll be happy to coordinate an employee meeting for you.
Is voluntary. It should not be pushed or pressured on anyone.
Is not about the amount, but the participation. Even if your employees don’t make a lot of money, that’s okay. We’d simply like the opportunity to educate them about United Way. And no gift is too small!
Can be done with a small workforce. We work with businesses with as few as five employees. All supporters are important!
Is easy. When payroll deduction is available, it makes giving convenient and easier for employees to budget.
It's a Win-Win
When your organization partners with United Way, not only does the community benefit, but your employees will benefit as well.

Your employees will learn about valuable services offered in the community through United Way’s partners.
Your employees may already be involved with United Way programs and would like another way to show their support.
They will feel good about themselves for giving back to their community. Also, donations to United Way are tax-deductible.
Studies show that companies who donate to charities and engage in the community see up to a 48% increase in revenue.
